When to Plant
If you haven't yet planted your garlic, don't worry, there is still plenty of time to get your garlic in the ground. In fact, certain varieties of garlic do better when planted from January to March. Select from Solent Wight Rhapsody Wight, Picardy Wight or Carcassonne Wight. Ideally garlic should be in the ground before the last frost since the cold weather will help to stimulate the initial growth of the bulb.
Growing Advice
To give your garlic the best possible chance of doing well, you can prepare the ground with our own specially formulated garlic fertilizer which contains a mixture of all the best garlic-specific nutrients to aid growth. Once your garlic is planted, there is very little you need to do. Make sure you water the plants well from Spring onwards since this will give the bulbs plenty of moisture to swell to the best possible size.
Harvesting
Plant plenty of different varieties to give you a good harvesting window- each will have a different ideal harvest time. If you want to take advantage of an early crop then you can consider pulling your garlic as green garlic in the late spring and using it as you would spring onions or leeks. Alternatively, wait until the bulb is fully matured then dry the bulbs fully to enhance their keeping quality.
